Federal law requires that every employer who recruits, refers for a fee, or hires an individual for employment in the U.S. to complete the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. The Form I-9, will help you verify your employee’s identity and employment authorization to work in the U.S. Employers are required to complete the most up-to-date form. During this presentation a management and program analyst from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will review the Form I-9 process, highlight the changes to the form, demonstrate how to complete each section, and address retention and storage. Also to be covered: how the E-Verify program works, it’s the key features, how to enroll, employer responsibilities, program highlights, a question and answer session, and how to get more information and assistance. Learning Objectives: Complete a Form I-9 correctly for a new employee. Understand how the rehire and reverification process works. Avoid any unfair employment practices with the Form I-9 process. Understand what E-Verify is and how the program works.
