Since the year 2000, CASA of Butte & Glenn Counties has hosted “Casablancaâ€. The event experience, in a Moroccan theme, is one that will entertain and inspire. Guests will enter the Lakeside Pavilion the evening of March 21st and feel transported to Morocco â€'' known as the “Kingdom of the West†â€'' complete with stunning décor and a festive atmosphere. Highlights will include a photo booth, DJ, wine wheel, silent & live auction, dancing and a no-host bar featuring beer and wine and signature cocktails. The committee is pleased to announce that Action News Anchor and longtime supporter of CASA, Linda Watkins Bennett, will be the event’s emcee. Last year’s event sold out and the excitement and anticipation is building toward another successful event this year all in support of CASA.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.
